Where to stay

Downtown

Walkable to dinner, bars and sights. Rentals are smaller, so larger groups may need two.

Mount Pleasant

Larger homes, Shem Creek nearby and quick access to the islands.

Folly Beach

Beach-town base with a walkable strip. Plan rides for downtown nights.

Isle of Palms

The biggest beach houses and a resort option. Best for large groups.

Getting around

  • Downtown is easy to walk. Plan routes around the uneven sidewalks.
  • Rideshare is the simplest way between downtown, the beaches and Mount Pleasant.
  • Pedicabs work well for short downtown hops at night.
  • For big groups, a party bus or private shuttle saves splitting into multiple cars.

What to pack

  • Comfortable walking shoes plus going-out shoes
  • Sunscreen, hats and a light layer for evening breezes
  • Swimsuits and a cover-up for the boat
  • An umbrella or rain jacket in summer
  • Decorations, sashes and any group outfits
