Charleston Beach Bachelorette Guide

Three beach towns, three different moods. Here is how Folly Beach, Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island stack up for a bachelorette group.

Every Charleston beach is within about thirty minutes of downtown, so you can stay on the peninsula and still get a full beach day. Or base the whole trip at the beach and head downtown for one big night. Either way, pick the beach that matches the group.

Local beaches restrict alcohol, glass and some other items on the sand. Check each town's current rules before you pack.

Folly Beach

Laid-back, surfy, walkable

Folly is the most social of the three. Center Street has casual bars and tacos steps from the sand, the pier makes a great sunset spot, and surf lessons give the group something to do together. The Morris Island Lighthouse view at the north end is worth the short walk.

Isle of Palms

Big rentals, wide beach, resort feel

Isle of Palms has the large beach houses that fit bigger groups, a wide flat beach and Front Beach for drinks and food. Wild Dunes adds a resort option. It also sits right next to Mount Pleasant, so a side trip to Shem Creek for dinner is easy.

Sullivan's Island

Quiet, scenic, food-focused

Sullivan's is the calm one. A small strip of restaurants on Middle Street, uncrowded sand and historic Fort Moultrie make it a good pick for a recovery day or a relaxed lunch.
